Super Lawyers is a private rating service of lawyers who practice in more than 70 areas of law, who are exemplary in their field, who have attained a great degree of recognition from their peers, and who are high achieving professionals. Each year there is a selection process to determine which lawyers will make the cut. The selection process includes peer evaluations, peer recommendations, and independent research. This year, we are honored to announce that two of our attorneys at Rogosheske, Rogosheske & Atkins, PLLC, have brought home awards based on their dedication and excellence in their field.
The Super Lawyer's Selection Process
Each year, the selection process begins with nominations. Lawyers cannot nominate themselves and are prohibited from campaigning; they must be nominated for their excellent work, acclaim amongst peers, and can also be identified by the Super Lawyers research team. The next step in the selection process is an evaluation on the basis of 12 critical indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement:
- Verdicts/Settlements
- Transactions
- Representative Clients
- Experience
- Honors/Awards
- Special licenses/certifications
- Position within the law firm
- Bar and/or professional activity
- Pro bono and community service
- Scholarly lectures/writings
- Education/employment background
- Other outstanding achievements
The third step in the selection process is known as the “blue ribbon review” and includes peer evaluation by practice area. Candidates are assigned point totals based on peer ratings on a scale of one to five. The fourth and final step in the selection process groups candidates in four categories based on the size of the firm they are a part of. Those with the highest point totals from steps two and three are then compared to other lawyers within their category, culminating in a final selection for inclusion in Super Lawyers.
Paul Rogosheske Named “Super Lawyer”
This year, Paul Rogosheske, a partner at Rogosheske, Rogosheske & Atkins, PLLC, was nominated for and won a Super Lawyer Award for the second year running. Only the top 5% of lawyers in the state are eligible to win a Super Lawyer Award, and it is remarkable for an individual to do so two years in a row. The multi-phase selection process is rigorous and discerning, evaluating candidates on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. As the Super Lawyers website states, “The objective is to create a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of outstanding attorneys that can be used as a resource for attorneys and consumers searching for legal counsel.”
Mr. Paul Rogosheske, who has 40 years of experience practicing law, is an ideal candidate for this award. He is licensed to practice in both Minnesota and Wisconsin and specializes in three main areas: criminal defense, personal injury, and litigation. Mr. Paul Rogosheske has accumulated a high degree of personal and professional achievement, winning multiple other awards for his outstanding work. Minnesota Law and Politics named Mr. Paul Rogosheske “One of the Top 40 Criminal Defense Attorneys” in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010; Twin Cities Business Monthly has considered Mr. Rogosheske one of its “Super Lawyers” since 2003; and Minnesota Monthly Magazine selected him as one of the “Best Lawyers” in Minnesota. Now he can add another “Super Lawyer” award to his prolific resume, and continue doing the challenging work of aiding citizens seeking to acquire the best possible defense in the area.
Alex Rogosheske Selected as a “Rising Star”
Alexander W. Rogosheske, another attorney at Rogosheske, Rogosheske & Atkins, PLLC, was also nominated for and selected as a Super Lawyers’ “Rising Star”. This prestigious award is limited to just 2.5% of attorneys nationwide and it is extremely well-deserved for the up-and-coming Mr. Alexander Rogosheske.
Having graduated from Hamline University School of Law in 2011, Mr. Alex Rogosheske gained experience clerking for the Ramsey County Attorney, Harry A. Sieben at Sieben, Grose, Von Holtum & Carey and through a judicial clerkship in Dakota County, Minnesota for the Honorable Judge David L. Knutson. Mr. Alex Rogosheske is a third-generation attorney; his father, Paul Rogosheske, is the acclaimed “Super Lawyer” mentioned above and a partner at the firm Alex also works at. His grandfather Walter serves as a Minnesota Supreme Court Justice.
Mr. Alex Rogosheske has used his variety of experiences in the law to hone in on his areas of specialty, which are criminal defense and debt collection, though he also has served in personal injury and incorporation cases. His hard work and dedication to the law have paid off, culminating in the incredible honor of being named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers.
